Meta has introduced a new line of AI-powered smart glasses, notably featuring a camera-free model designed to mitigate privacy concerns associated with wearable technology. Available from October 13 at a starting price of $349, these audio-only glasses are part of Meta’s broader strategy to address privacy issues while advancing its consumer AI offerings.

The release of these camera-free glasses marks a shift from Meta’s previous models, which included cameras for capturing photos and videos. The company emphasized the continued importance of privacy features, such as visible recording indicators on models equipped with cameras, as it diversifies its wearable technology lineup.

In addition to the camera-free glasses, Meta unveiled new versions of its smart glasses that include display capabilities. These models start at $799 and are expected to expand to more international markets soon. The company also showcased lighter mixed-reality glasses, which are set to launch in spring 2027 and will be priced starting at $1,299. These glasses will utilize an external battery and memory pack, enhancing their functionality and user experience.

Alongside its new wearable technology, Meta introduced Muse, an AI-powered personal assistant designed to handle tasks like booking appointments, making calls, and facilitating connections with various services. Meta is positioning both the AI glasses and Muse as integral components of its expansive consumer AI strategy.
